Henry van Wijmeren (Popstar Henry)

Henry is een oorspronkelijke Kampenaar die opgroeide in Zeist en Uden
maar hij woont momenteel in Limburg. Een veelzijdig artiest die sinds zijn vroegste jeugdjaren al in koren zong, als straatmuzikant optrad zowel solo als in duo’s en in verschillende bands zijn kwaliteiten heeft bewezen. Hij nam deel aan het populaire TV programma: “So you wanne be a Popstar” SBS 6 in september 2007. Sinds die dag staat hij bekend als Popstar Henry.

Henry speelt de 12 snarige gitaar en mondharmonica en bezit natuurlijk die fantastische stem, die hem zover heeft gebracht. Zijn lievelingseten is erwtensoep, en/of saté en een Grieks gerecht laat hij ook niet staan. Zijn favoriete muziek is a.o. The Eagles, Eric Clapton, John Denver,enz. Henry is een echte singer/songwriter die ook met Werner Theunis en Gordon Smith samenwerkte.

The roots of Henry (55) lay in the ’Country-Rock and he is big fan of The Eagles. At the age of 19 he began his musical career as a streetsinger. In 1989 he had the opportunity to sing for John Denver himself, and that’s something he always will remember. His warm voice, grey hair, 12-string guitar and Bluesharp have become his trademark. In 1990 he recorded his first song, called ”RIDING ON ’, written by Gordon Smith, former bandmember of’ PHIL COLLINS. Meanwhile, over the years he played on many stages, including HMH-Amsterdam. In 2007 he managed to get through the auditions for the Dutch TV program So You Wanna be a popstar-SBS6.
Thousands of candidates managed to get Henry a sixth place in the live show and he was one of the most talked-about candidates. Now he is a welcome artist at many Radio and TV stations . After the release of his first album, ”ALL ABOUT TIME” (2008) Henry is still working hard on his career. Werner Theunis sen (Songwriter of the Worldhit ”MISSISSIPPI”) wrote Henry’s single called “LONELY HEARTS MOTEL”. 2010 is the year that Henry started a new way forward.
