Djool

Biografie

Djool (Joëlle Savelkoul) is a 22-year-old singer living in the south of the Netherlands, near Maastricht.

Music has played an important role during the last five years of her life and will become an everyday job in the years to come. While studying at Maastricht Conservatory, Djool spends a lot of time making music in Café Classic in Valkenburg and various other locations.

Djool has performed on several radio and TV programmes such as, the “Tent van Emil” theatre shows, and has also given several interviews on her travel and vocal performances in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Djool has written her own songs which are inspired by everyday life, people and universal feelings. She also covers music by artists such as Janis Joplin and Alanis Morissette , but also has a fragile repertoire including songs by Antony and the Johnsons, Eva Cassidy, Queen and others…

Her most current focus is the study of jazz vocals. The old jazz standards sung by Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday, for example, form a new vision and confirm Djool’s passion for music and singing, now and in the future.
